Open-air market in Chichicastenango, June 24. I was with one group so my photos tend to have the same students. Mr. Dana and Lisa, our Safe Passage guide, were with other group. Every student purchased items. They all bargained and they did a great job using Spanish. Very impressive because it’s overwhelming in the market with the people, sounds, smells, language, trying to be safe, figure out exchange rate, etc. We carried backpacks in front, kept small amounts of cash readily available, and students did everything right. NO problems all day, we all had fun and everyone wants to return to the market. We won´t be in Chichicastenango again so we´ll go to the smaller Antigua market sometime this week after a day of volunteering.
